Lere Olayinka Warns Funmi Oguns Against Attacking Ekiti Leaders in Political Discourse

March 25, 2024 admin@@@ No Comments Community, Politics

A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Lere Olayinka, has cautioned Mrs. Funmi Ogun, an intending governorship aspirant in the State, against launching personal attacks on notable leaders. Olayinka warned that such actions would be detrimental and could result in electoral setbacks for the aspirant. Emphasizing a shift away from politics of personal attacks, Olayinka stressed that Ekiti State has moved past that era.

In response to allegations made by Funmi Ogun regarding governance in Ekiti State, Olayinka challenged her to substantiate her claims and questioned the motive behind her accusations. Referring to Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s relationships with past leaders, Olayinka urged for a more nuanced understanding of political dynamics in the state, highlighting instances of mutual respect and cooperation.

Expressing concern over the implications of unfounded accusations, Olayinka criticized attempts to tarnish the reputations of respected leaders in Ekiti State. He questioned the validity of criticisms leveled against Governor Oyebanji’s governance, particularly when juxtaposed with past administrations and collaborative efforts towards development projects.

While refraining from directly defending Governor Oyebanji and his administration, Olayinka stressed the importance of upholding truth and integrity in political discourse. He reiterated the need for a collective approach within the PDP, emphasizing the role of the party’s official spokesperson in communicating party positions.

In reflecting on his own stance regarding Governor Oyebanji, Olayinka highlighted the governor’s inclusive approach towards former political adversaries. He echoed sentiments of unity and reconciliation, aligning himself with the governor’s efforts to bridge political divides and deepen cooperation among stakeholders in Ekiti State.
