In a concerted effort to elevate the cleanliness and environmental sustainability of Ado Ekiti, a delegation led by Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa, Director-General of the Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship (BCOC), convened with the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Ajisafe-Aluko.

The purpose of this high-level engagement was to strategize on the efficient utilization and maintenance of recently acquired Dino bins, while fostering a sense of citizen ownership in upholding a clean and healthy environment.

Commending the Commissioner and her team for their proactive stance in spearheading environmental cleanliness initiatives in the State, Mrs. Famuyiwa stressed the imperative of collaborative endeavors between government bodies and citizens to realize impactful outcomes.

“The cleanliness of our environment is a shared obligation necessitating active involvement and responsibility from every individual,” stressed Mrs. Famuyiwa. “The introduction of these Dino bins is a laudable initiative, and it is paramount that we educate and sensitize the populace on their proper usage and upkeep.”

In reciprocation, Commissioner Ajisafe-Aluko expressed gratitude for the BCOC’s visit and reaffirmed the Ministry’s unwavering dedication to strengthening a clean and sustainable environment in Ado Ekiti.

“We warmly welcome the BCOC team and value their assistance in advocating civic duty and environmental awareness,” affirmed Commissioner Ajisafe-Aluko. “The acquisition of the Dino bins marks a significant stride in enhancing waste management in our city, and we are committed to ensuring their effective deployment and maintenance.”

The discourse also illuminated the necessity for vigorous public enlightenment campaigns, aimed at enlightening residents on the importance of waste disposal practices and the repercussions of improper waste management. Both parties concurred on the implementation of a series of workshops, roadshows, and community engagements to educate the populace and stimulate active community involvement.

To oversee the judicious utilization and maintenance of the Dino bins throughout Ado Ekiti, the BCOC and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources outlined plans to institute a comprehensive monitoring framework. This framework would encompass routine inspections, feedback mechanisms, and collaboration with pertinent stakeholders to swiftly address any encountered challenges.
